VIKOGA - an Overview

VIKOGA is an acronym for Virtual Intelligent Kinaesthetically Oriented Geometric Activation.

VIKOGA can be defined as ...
the process of programming the bodymind to generate and use a structural force-field for personal combat

Some Underlying Assumptions of VIKOGA

VIKOGA is based on certain assumptions. They are -

  1. Human beings are terrestrial biologic entities (tbe) with vast and as yet undiscovered, unknown, untapped latent potentials and powers.
  2. The most effective ways to access, tap, use and develop these potentials and powers are - using time-tested ancient traditions; and contemporary cutting edge technological innovations, developments, etc.
  3. The underlying factor in most realtime combat is the available use of appropriate force and structure.
  4. All so called techniques are based on dynamic biomechanic structuring during combat.
  5. The key to effective defence and attack is the concept of personal safety space and its relationship to the relevant force and structure.
  6. The focus on structure is simpler, stronger, faster and safer than focussing on the flailing of arms and legs as techniques.
  7. Structure involves coverage (personal protective space).
  8. Structure is an integral part of force generation and the field of the force(s).
  9. The structuring process brings out the "techniques" of VIKOGA.
  10. To optimise the utilisation of force and structure, the mind, the intent and the spirit must integrate.

Essentials of VIKOGA

VIKOGA focuses on biomechanical combative structuring and force generation. The training process is to cultivate in the student the movements and reflexes to achieve a constant live protective space through structuring the body intelligently and using this structuring to serve as a penetrative construct against the enemy.

Thus, VIKOGA concentrates on using the whole body as a dynamic structuring construct to gain an armouring effect, as well as achieving an invasive spearing result. The net result of this approach becomes what is commonly perceived as simplicity, directness, concurrency of defence and attack, minimum effort maximum result and practicality.

To gain these attributes, VIKOGA selected the content of Vingtzun Kungfu system as the software to drive the bodymindspirit towards its goal.

Concept of Force

Force is a vector with magnitude and direction.
When different forces integrate, a separate distinct resultant force appears.

The structuring of the body should generate an array of forces, with a dynamic resultant force. VIKOGA uses Vingtzun Kungfu to cultivate this force, involving the presence of the mind-intent, enabling a structure which can both protect (cover) and invade (penetrate) the enemy.

Specifics of the VIKOGA Force

1.The force does not work in isolation.
2.A number of forces combined to form a resultant force.
3.The force vectors involved are converging.
4.The force vectors occupy a space known as the force-field.
5.The force-field is congruent to the personal safety space.
6.The force-field is partially bounded by the structure of the body.
7.The force generated is springy - pliable and resilient.
8.The force is generated by both Inter-structural and Intra-structural orientation in practice.

VIKOGA Inter-Structural Force Generation

One of the simplest and fastest method of generating a force-field is to accelerate from one structure to another. This is usually represented by the formula F = ma, where F stands for Force and m stands for mass and a, the acceleration. In practice, the emphasis is for the mind-intent to dynamically "see" the next structure and move the body to assume the construct of the next structure. This transition between one structure and the next is known as structuring and it is this structuring that gives rise to the force which is an acceleration-generated force consistent with basic mechanics.

VIKOGA Intra-Structural Force Generation

The Intra-Structure Force Generation method of VIKOGA is harder and more sophisticated than the Inter-Structure Force Generation . It is also related to a degreeto the Inter-Structural Force Generation as they normally work in unison.

Intra-Structural means between parts of the structure.

In VIKOGA, the main emphasis is training the whole body into a spring-like structure. To achieve, certain joints must be bent and "alive" with minimum tension.

"Small" Contemplation Form

VIKOGA defines the Siu Nim Tao Form as the Fundamental Structive Form as ...

Using the mind-intent actively to harness a converging gForce-Field through a dynamic tetrahedronic structural shape.

Viewed from the top the isosceles triangular forces with a centred resultant force are symbolised by the Chinese character "small". Siu Nim Tao means leading, preceding with a Mindful Presence of the "Small" character articulation. This a most practical, realistic, down-to-earth, meaningful interpretation of the Siu Nim Tao name.

This converging force-field and structuring is the core technological nucleus to the whole VIKOGA system.

The Forces of the 2nd Form

There are 4 sections in the 2nd Form (aka. Scanning Structure, Mobile Structive Form, JumQ)

Beginning Move - For transforming the isosceles cone to an unequal sided cone.

  1. Section 1 trains the rotational tetrahedronic torque / tangential forces.
  2. Section 2 trains the slant cutting tetrahedron.
  3. Section 3 trains the advancing tetrahedron.
  4. Section 4 trains the single axial spinning swathe.

The Forces of the 3rd Form

There are 6 sections in the 3rd form (aka. Darting point, Intra-Structive Form, Biuji)

Beginning Move - For training the whiplash power to the fingertips.

  1. Section 1 for using 1 side to create a 3-D converging cone.
  2. Section 2 for training the whirlpool, figure-8 looping power.
  3. Section 3 for training the rotational tetrahedronic power to the fingertips.
  4. Section 4 for training the figure-8 looping swathe.
  5. Section 5 for training the reverse of Section 4.
  6. Section 6 for training the hip-hydraulic power.

Sticking Hands as Intersecting Structural Forces

Sticking Hands train our ability to resolve antagonistic forces when intersecting the opponent's force-field.

Although Sticking hands is not fighting, nontheless, it simulates the manipulation and utilisation of the gForce-Field to articulate the physique to achieve the goals of maximum protection of the self, maximum penetration of the enemy with the minimum expenditure of energy and movement.

As the dynamic resultant force varies according to the incoming attacks or counters, the VIKOGA physical technical combination will automatically reflect this main changing resultant force. Giving rise to dynamic adaptive protective and invasive structues - known as Hand Immobilisation, Trapping, Simultaneous Defence and Attack, etc. From a VIKOGA perspective, the so called Hand Immobilsation, Trappings, etc are the RESULTS of applying a gForce-Field Solution to the conflict-resolution process. The correct use of the gForce-Field causes the manifestation of techniques. Thus, it is easier, simpler, more powerful to focus on the understanding and application of the gForce-Field, than to learn a series of hand techniques.

Thus, there is no such things as techniques, only structures reflecting the forces, used in a combative mode.

Sticking Hands trains the sensitivity to the forces and their control and manipulation to yield the most strategic and tactical resultant forces reflecting a most appropriate and result-producing structure.

FAQs

Q. How is VIKOGA different from other martial arts?

A. VIKOGA is a structural approach to moving the whole body and it is the process of structuring into a dynamic tetrahedronic construct that movements come across as "techniques". These techniques then come across as smart, intelligent, economical and practical.

Q. How do you reconcile VIKOGA with other styles, schools and Systems?

A. VIKOGA emphasises on goals to achieve including self-confidence, structural fitness, ongoing ergonomic orientation in all that we do, as well as in learning how to protect ourselves effectively using the least to achieve the most. It is a most suitable process for all busy people with little spare time and resources to invest in the desired outcome of sense of security, protective ability and overall fitness safety.

Q. Can I mix VIKOGA with other martial arts?

A. As long as it satisfies your needs and wants, yes. All martial arts schools, styles and systems are really good for their followers. VIKOGA is a revolutionary way of perception and action.

Q. Will VIKOGA really make me a better fighter?

A. Strictly speaking, no one knows how a fight will develop in real life so that no one can really teach you how to fight. At best, they can help you develop your potentials so that you can automatically operate in a more proficient manner when compelled to fight.

Q. Does VIKOGA have internal strength cultivation and all that?

A. Our research so far suggests that internal strength is the capability of using the least amount to galvanise and generate the most force. At this stage, we regard the most powerful force to be a RESULTANT force from a host of forces, physically occupying a 3-D field. That this 3-D field has a geometric shape. That to cultivate this, the fundamental method is to work with the most basic , our physical structure, then the workings between the various component parts of our structure, ...

Q. Does VIKOGA go into empty forces, death touches, and other deadlier methods of fighting?

A. It is possible that we are using less than 10% of our total potentials and even that guesstimate may be over-generous. Until and unless, there are deterministic methods to cultivate these so called deadlier fighting skills, we should focus our precious spare time, energy and resources on reliable and scientific methods and skills. We can assume safely that if the empty force, death touches, etc are deterministic skills (ie. If you do say x, then that you will DEFINITELY get y), the armed forces, special forces, etc will be learning them.
