Jewish Folk Centre in Sydney

Welcome to the Home Page of the Jewish Folk Centre, Inc. Since 1941 we have been committed to the maintenance of Yiddish as a living language. The Centre has a free lending library (open Sundays from 10-12), Yiddish conversation groups (every Thursday at the Centre), Yiddish classes, and fortnightly events such as films, concerts, and lectures.

Located at 23 Saber Street in Woolahra (across from the Bondi Junction train station), the Centre is also used by various organisations, such as the Centre on Aging (COA), the Hebrew Culture Circle (tarbut),Child Holocaust Survivors, and the Jewish Secular Humanists.

The Folk Centre has a new page.
From time to time, we'll post stories, articles, poems... in Yiddish.
The final instalments of Khanike gelt from Sholem Aleykhem are up!
To read them, go to the Literature page
You'll need to use Adobe Reader, which you can download for free at Adobe
