Points to Ponder
This section of my web page set introduces to you some things that I just come across in life, and which I would like you to read about and think about for a moment or so of your time - if that isn't wasting too much of your lifespan.
"When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of, he always delcares that it is his duty." George Bernard Shaw.
"Intellectuals are people who believe that ideas are of more importance than values. That is to say, their own ideas and other people's values." Gerald Brenan.
"If we see light at the end of the tunnel it is the light of an oncoming train" Robert Lowell.
"If a traveller were informed that such a man was the leader of the Australian people, he may well begin to comprehend how the Egyptians worshipped an insect." Adapted from Benjamin Disraeli.
"There were times my pants were so thin I could sit on a dime and tell if it was heads or tails." Spencer Tracy - commenting on poverty.
"Casting a ball at three straight sticks and defending the same with a fourth." Rudyard Kipling - commenting on cricket.
"I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it." Stephen Leacock.
"The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool or yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, he will make a fool of himself too." Samuel Butler.
A Sunday Telegraph article stated that a Scottish research university has just concluded that battery hens are more relaxed and don't fight or get stressed as much if allowed to watch re-runs of TV programs.
Just some points for you to ponder - think about them, and how they effect your daily lifestyle and routine, or just how they sound. Whatever you want.
