In December Shane and Michelle will leaving sunny Sydney for chilly Antarctica. They will be ducking across the Tasman to New Zealand and from there boarding a Russian ice strengthened ship, the Akademik Shokalskiy, and sailing south for the summer.
The trip is Mawson's Antarctica and Commonwealth Bay with Aurora Expeditions.
Shane is looking forward to celebrating his birthday (17 December) at sea the day before they arrive at Commonwealth Bay. They should be at Cape Adare for Christmas and New Year's Day will be at sea heading to the Auckland Islands on the way back to New Zealand.
