Grants Offered in 2007
Long Tan Bursary

As part of the Commemoration Program in 2007 for the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, there have been enhancements for the Australian Government funded Long Tan bursaries which are for any year of undergraduate university or vocational studies, for the children, stepchildren, adopted children and foster children, of Australian Vietnam Veterans. The number of bursaries has been increased from 30 to 50 per year, the bursaries are also now of higher total value ($9,000) and are of longer duration, being paid at $3,000 per year for three years. No one can be awarded more than one bursary.
State allocations have been increased with 10 bursaries per year for QLD, 12 for NSW, 7 for VIC, 5 each for WA, SA and TAS and 3 each for NT and ACT.

The rest of the year's money is paid in ten monthly equal instalments during the academic year (March to December). Payments are exempt from income tax but are considered as income for Centrelink payments.
Payments subject to continuing enrolment, satisfactory progress and continuing financial eligibility.
